    WEAI Celebrates 70 Years. The Weatherhead East Asian Institute marked its 70th anniversary in with programs that honored the Institute’s founding, celebrated the achievements of the past seven decades, and explored new directions for the study of East and Southeast Asia. Hosted at the University of Hong Kong and organized by Jeffrey Alexander of Yale University and David Palmer of HKU, with generous support from the Council of East Asian Studies at Yale University and The Center for Cultural Sociology at Yale University, The Civil Sphere in East Asia conference will take place in Hong Kong on Friday, May 5.

    The Center for East Asian Studies at the University of Chicago (CEAS) serves as an interdisciplinary nexus and clearinghouse for East Asian studies and an important resource for faculty and students across the University.
